The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah

This book takes place during WWII and sheds light on the role of woman in the war. It follows two sisters who took on two very different responsibilities during the war. One was from the perspective of a wife at home and the other was from a woman who helped rescue downed air pilots. The story is courageous and brave from both perspectives. This is hands -down one of my favourite books of all time, it made me cry, it was suspenseful and extremely emotional. Reading it felt like an emotional rollercoaster but you will be left feeling like you gained a better idea of the part woman played in the war and feel a sense of female pride at what incredible things woman accomplished that often went unnoticed or praised.
